Autobiography

Hi, my name is Brenda Santiago. I was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on September 15.  My parents are Cristobal Santiago and Maria Cruz. I have an older and younger brother. When I was seven ages old, my parents decided to move to New York. This helped me learn a second language and discover different culture. I graduated from Lehman High School in Bronx, New York. I also have an  Associate Degree in Accounting. I worked in the accounting department for a few years. Then got married, and we have 2 daughters. After four years of working in a printing company, I change job and worked for the Postal Services in Westchester, New York. 

About seven years ago, I decided to move to Puerto Rico, seen then, we live in Humacao, Puerto Rico. I worked at a hospital for two years. With two young daughters, is hard to find a good person to take care of them. So, I decided to stay home, but then helping my daughters with their homework, and at church giving craft and art class at sunday school; it help me visualize and realize that I can teach children. This inspired me to go back to school and finish a bachelors’ degree in education. Both daughters speak and understand the English language. I believe that I can motivate students to do their best and give them the tools to achieve a second language.
